Acquisition leads to piping innovation.

A recently acquired HVAC company was interested in implementing better refrigerant piping systems for its customers. Once acquired by Modigent, there was an opportunity to revolutionize pipe design by collaborating with other Modigent operating companies, bringing innovative solutions to life, and delivering exceptional efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Solutions

  • Innovative pipe design concept, centered around using bends instead of traditional 90-degree elbows, was adopted to enhance refrigerant piping systems.
  • Utilized bending tools and U55 copper to eliminate the need for most fittings throughout the system, reducing the required soldering when the 19’ sections of piping needed to be joined or at the prefabricated wye fittings.
  • Collaborated with Modigent’s operating companies to leverage specialized bending tools and shared resources, eliminating the need for Central Air and Heating Services to incur additional hard costs and risks.
  • Modigent educated engineering teams about the design’s benefits, efficiency improvements, and cost-effectiveness, helping to encourage adoption and overcome resistance to the deviation from established design norms.
  • The concept was implemented in a new federal building where the project involved installing piping and multiple VRF systems. It provided significant financial benefit for CAHS and offered the client systems that reduced structural opportunities for leaks and pressure drops, which boosted system efficiency.

Central Air and Heating Services and other Modigent operating companies are seeing significant reductions in labor costs, material expenses, and installation time, giving these companies a competitive advantage.

Needing less refrigerant and improving refrigerant management is bringing better energy utilization, optimal performance, better oil return, and much less risk of potential contaminants being introduced into the system.
